Al Ahly have extended the Egyptian midfielder’s contract until 2030, securing Marwan Attia on revised terms.
Al Ahly said in their official announcement that Attia completed the administrative and financial formalities during a meeting with contracts sector head Essam Serag El-Din.
The club added that Attia was delighted to extend his stay and continue playing for Al Ahly and their supporters. The agreement raises Attia’s annual salary from EGP13 million to EGP20 million, according to sources. The midfielder could receive almost EGP10 million more through performance-related bonuses.
Those variables, however, depend on his appearances, individual contributions and the club’s success in domestic and continental competitions. That structure could take his annual earnings to approximately EGP30 million.
The player’s former contract would have expired in June 2029. The extension therefore adds another season to his stay while revising his financial terms.
It also came 24 hours after Al Ahly secured Emam Ashour until 2030. The club are now said to be working on settling the futures of Mohamed Hany, Mostafa Shobeir, and Yasser Ibrahim.
Attia joined Al Ahly from Ittihad Alexandria in January 2023 on an initial four-and-a-half-year agreement. The 28-year-old has since established himself as a regular for club and country. He helped Al Ahly win three Egyptian Premier League titles and two CAF Champions League crowns.
Attia also began the new league season by scoring in Al Ahly’s 3-2 comeback victory over El Sharkia ENPPI.
