Al Ahly stated that the CAS rejected an appeal by Pyramids FC, confirming the Red Devils as last season’s Egyptian Premier League champions.

In a brief statement posted on the club’s official social channels, Al Ahly said CAS had ruled in their favour and dismissed the rival challenge. The club added that the decision affirms their right to the league trophy, which would stand as the 45th league title in the club’s history.

Al Ahly won the Premier League last season by two points over Pyramids. However, the championship remained contested after Pyramids argued the league organisers should have applied a harsher penalty following the club’s failure to play a high-profile derby against Zamalek.

The case traces back to last season’s second-phase derby date, when Al Ahly refused to play Zamalek, citing the lack of foreign referees for the match. The club had pushed for an overseas officiating team, amid recurring criticism of domestic refereeing.

The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association initially sanctioned Al Ahly with a three-point deduction, in addition to awarding Zamalek the match points. This package would have significantly changed the final standings.

However, the league later reversed part of that punishment. It relied on a provision that argued the scheduling window between the draw and kickoff did not allow sufficient time to secure foreign referees under league procedures. That revision kept the Red Devils ahead in the title race and triggered Pyramids’ legal challenge.

Pyramids took the dispute to CAS, insisting the full sporting sanction should have applied and that the title should be reassigned on the basis of the corrected table.

While Al Ahly presented the issue as settled, sources at Pyramids revealed had not yet received any official communication from CAS.
