Al Ahly have officially turned down a transfer offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hazem for Aliou Dieng, the club confirmed on Saturday.
The 27-year-old midfielder has attracted interest from various clubs, with Qatari side Al-Wakrah SC also reportedly interested in the player. But the Egyptian champions have remained firm in their stance, rejecting Al-Hazem’s bid and declaring that Dieng is “not for sale.”
Aliou Dieng recently returned to Cairo following a loan spell at Al-Kholood in Saudi Arabia, where he made 31 appearances and netted three goals.
Despite featuring only once as a substitute at the FIFA Club World Cup in the club’s 4-4 draw with Porto, Al Ahly see Dieng as an integral part of their squad moving forward.
Since joining from Algeria’s MC Alger in 2019, Dieng has played a key role in the Red Devil’s midfield. Over five seasons and 214 appearances with Al Ahly, Aliou Dieng has tallied seven goals and assisted 11.
More importantly, he’s played a vital role in a trophy loaded era for the Cairo giants, helping the club win 14 trophies, including:
- 3x Egyptian Premier League titles
- 3x Egypt Cups
- 4x Egyptian Super Cups
- 4x CAF Champions Leagues
- 2x CAF Super Cups
