Al Ahly have reportedly reignited their interest in Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane ahead of the January transfer window.
Ben Romdhane’s transfer saga, one of the most protracted of the summer, appears set to continue this winter.
The midfielder was so close to joining the African champions during the last transfer window, but negotiations stalled before the deal could be finalized.
According to Tunisian outlet Football Tunisien, Al Ahly have resumed talks to secure Ben Romdhane’s services as they hope that his lack of playing time in Hungary now could push the deal to be completed this time around.
The report also notes that his former club, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, is also keen on bringing him back on loan to bolster their squad for the 2025 Club World Cup.
Ben Romdhane has made 15 appearances for Ferencvárosi TC this season, scoring two goals. However, his playing time has diminished recently, featuring in only two of the last five Hungarian League matches since October.
The 25-year-old has been plying his trade at Ferencvárosi since the summer of 2023, joining on a free transfer from Espérance, making 55 appearances in which he scored four and made eight assists.
