Mohamed Ramadan, Al Ahly’s Sporting Director, addressed the future of Ali Maaloul following his recovery from a serious injury.
In a statement on Al Ahly TV, Ramadan explained, “The club agreed with Ali Maaloul that the current season is his last with Al-Ahly. The decision was made to renew it for a season out of respect for the player’s legacy and what he did during his career with the club.”
He continued, “The player expressed his desire to return to the pitch, aiming to be ready by November 20th. He asked for two weeks with the first team to prove himself, after which we will make the decision regarding his future. If he doesn’t regain his form, he will explore other options.”
The final decision will rest with the sporting director and head coach Marcel Koller, based on the player’s physical condition. Maaloul is open to whatever decision is reached by the club.
Ali Maaloul joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2016 from Tunisian club CS Sfaxien and has since established himself as a key player and a fan favorite.
