Al Ahly winger Hussein El-Shahat reflected on his side’s victory against Simba in the CAF Champions League.

The Red Devils earned a vital 1-0 win over Simba in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals on Friday evening.

Ahmed Nabil Kouka’s early strike was the difference between both sides as Al Ahly will head into the return leg with a goal advantage.

After the game, Hussein El-Shahat spoke about the tie and believes the reigning champions still have work to do to secure qualification for the next round.

“It’s a crucial win for us given the conditions we played in today,” El-Shahat said via the club’s social media channels.

“We have struggled a lot, but we are Al Ahly and I thank the players for the fight and effort they have shown today.

“There is still another 90 minutes left to play and it won’t be easy but our aim is to secure qualification in front of our fans next week,” he added.
