Al Ahly's Karim El-Debes wanted by Portuguese side Famalicão

Egypt U23 international and Al Ahly’s left-back Karim El-Debes has been reportedly linked with a move to Portuguese outfit Famalicão.

The 21-year-old left-back represented Egypt at the 2024 Paris Olympics but struggled for game time under Marcel Koller at Al Ahly.

Despite Ali Maaloul’s long-term injury, El-Debes managed just 10 appearances, with Al Ahly’s coach preferring right-backs Karim Fouad and Omar Kamal over him on the left side.

El-Debes could leave Al Ahly this summer in search of playing time and a move to Portugal is reportedly on the table for him.

According to Portuguese publication Ojogo, El-Debes is wanted by Famalicão on loan to allow Francisco Moura to leave amid reports linking him with a move to FC Porto.

The news comes after Rio Ave also submitted a €1.2 million offer to Al Ahly’s midfielder Ahmed Nabil Kouka, which the Reds rejected.

El-Debes made his Egyptian Premier League debut at just 18 with Wadi Degla, before joining Al Ahly in October 2022 for a reported fee of €286,000.

During his time with the Cairo giants, El-Debes made 14 appearances for Al Ahly, winning the CAF Champions League last season, two Egyptian Premier League titles, and one Egypt Cup.

He was also part of the Al Ahly team that won the 2023 Club World Cup bronze medal in Saudi Arabia last December.
