Al Ahly’s summer signing Achraf Dari sustained an injury while on international duty with the Moroccan national team.
Dari was initially named in the starting lineup for the game against Lesotho but was replaced before kick-off with experienced defender Youness Abdelhamid.
After the match, Morocco’s head coach, Walid Regragui, commented on Dari’s condition, stating that the player experienced some pain in his ankle, prompting the decision not to risk him and to provide an opportunity for other players.
Dari’s father provided an update, assuring that the injury was not serious and that the defender would require about four days of rest to recover fully.
Al Ahly face a challenging situation as apart from Achraf Dari, Ramy Rabia was also substituted off due to injury during Egypt’s match against Cape Verde, while Youssef Ayman picked up an injury in training.
The African champions will begin their season in the CAF Champions League’s round of 32 against Kenyan club Gor Mahia.
Following that, they will travel to Saudi Arabia to face their arch-rivals Zamalek in the African Super Cup on September 27, 2024.
