El-Shennawy

Saudi Pro League outfit Al Wehda are reportedly set to complete the signing of Al Ahly’s first-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy.

El-Shennawy had spent most of the season on the sidelines due to an injury he sustained at the start of the current campaign.

The 35-year-old, however, returned to the starting lineup in recent weeks to help Al Ahly close the gap on league leaders Pyramids FC.

Despite his impressive performances, it seems Al Ahly will allow the veteran shot-stopper to depart the club after eight years with multiple sides showing interest.

According to Saudi news outlet Al Maydan, El-Shennawy is set to make a move to the Middle East this summer on a permanent deal.

Al Wehda had already submitted a bid for the former Petrojet goalkeeper and Al Ahly could be willing to cash in with only a year remaining on his contract.

It’s also worth noting that Al Ahly recently announced the permanent signing of back-up goalkeeper Mohamed El-Zonfoly, who initially joined the Cairo giants on a loan deal.
