Egyptian squash legend Ali Farag has officially retired from professional competition, closing the curtain on a legendary career.
Ranked No.2 at the time of his retirement, Ali Farag departs the sport as one of its all-time greats. Over nearly two decades on the PSA World Tour, the 32-year-old amassed 46 titles, including four PSA World Championships and four World Team Championships with Egypt. He spent a remarkable 238 weeks as World No.1, the fifth-longest reign in men’s squash history.
His announcement comes just weeks after he reached the final of the 2025 PSA World Championships in Chicago, where he finished runner-up.

He competed in 81 PSA finals, won 57% of them, and claimed victory in 445 out of 553 matches.
In addition, he was a seven-time recipient of the PSA Spirit of Squash Award.
In a touching farewell video, Farag said, “I always knew this day would come and I knew it would be very emotional. And it is, but in a good way.”
Following his announcement, World Squash Federation President Zena Wooldridge paid tribute to Ali farag in a heartfelt statement as well.
“Besides being one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, it is perhaps his grace on and off court that will be most fondly remembered,” she said.
She added, “World Squash [Federation], and all who love our sport, owe Ali an enormous debt of gratitude for everything he has done. I wish him the very best in this next chapter of his life.”
