Former Al Ahly goalkeeper turned pundit Ahmed Shobeir revealed that Anthony Modeste could be leaving the club in the summer.
Anthony Modeste completed a move to Al Ahly last summer on a free transfer after his contract expired at Borussia Dortmund.
The Frenchman signed a one-year contract with an option to extend for one further season, depending on his playing time.
But according to Ahmed Shobeir, it seems Modeste is set to leave the club after failing to make an impression in Egyptian football, netting just four goals in 22 games.
“Al Ahly have decided not to extend Modeste’s contract,” Shobeir told local radio broadcast SportFM.
“There is a stipulation that if he plays a certain number of games, his deal would be renewed automatically but they don’t want that because they would have to pay him a huge amount of money which could exceed $1m.
“The next few days will reveal the extent of the relationship that exists between the player and the club,” he added.
