Manchester United winger Antony was reportedly considered as a potential Salah replacement at Liverpool in 2022.

In light of the current uncertainty surrounding the Premier League star’s future and with several clubs monitoring his situation, The Times recently revealed that back in 2022 when Mo Salah and Liverpool were in the same position they find themselves in right now regarding contract talks, The Reds explored the market for options in case the Egyptian star did not renew.

Former manager Jurgen Klopp had reportedly identified Brazilian winger Antony, who was catching eyes at Ajax under Erik ten Hag at the time, as a possible successor.

He was regarded as one of the most promising young wingers in Europe. However, Liverpool’s concerns were no longer an issue when Salah signed a new deal, ending speculation about his future.

Antony eventually reunited with Ten Hag at Manchester United, moving to Old Trafford for a staggering £82 million.

Since joining United, Antony has registered 12 goals and five assists in 87 appearances. Meanwhile, Salah has continued to shine for Liverpool, contributing 65 goals and 40 assists during the same period.
