Negotiations are progressing between FC Barcelona and Al Ahly SC over a potential January transfer for 17‑year‑old striker Hamza Abdelkarim.
The Catalan club is planning to bring the forward into the youth setup initially, with a view to integrating him into the senior environment in the future.
According to sources, Barcelona values Hamza Abdelkarim for his technical skills and adaptability, believing he could make an immediate impact at the reserve level.
However, talks have reportedly been complicated by differences over the transfer structure and compensation. Al Ahly are demanding €5 million to secure his permanent transfer, a figure the Egyptian side recently adjusted from earlier demands that reportedly approached €8 million.
Barcelona has so far offered an initial package worth around €1.8 million plus possible add‑ons tied to performance, a valuation Al Ahly considers insufficient.
Despite this gap, both clubs continue negotiations, and there are reasons for optimism. Al Ahly is understood to be flexible on loan length and the structure of future buy‑out terms, including add-ons and sell‑on clauses. Although exact details are still being hammered out.
Hamza Abdelkarim himself is reported to be eager for the move to Barcelona, seeing it as a key step in his development.
The Blaugrana currently leads the race to sign the teenager, outpacing interest from other European clubs.
As negotiations continue into the new year, all eyes will be on whether the two clubs can bridge the financial divide and finalise a deal that sees Abdelkarim join Barcelona when he turns 18 in January.
