Barcelona are close to finalizing a deal for Al Ahly forward Hamza Abdelkarim, after the Catalan club submitted an improved proposal.

According to reports, Al Ahly are close to approving the latest offer from Barcelona, which would see Hamza Abdelkarim join Barça Atlètic on loan until the end of the season. Following negotiations that have stretched for several weeks, the Spanish club will retain an option to make the move permanent.

The proposed structure is understood to include:

  • Loan until the end of the current season
  • Purchase option worth €1.5 million, plus add-ons
  • Performance-related bonuses that could raise the total package to as much as €5 million
  • A 15% sell-on clause

If the agreement is signed off, the 17-year-old is expected to travel to Catalonia on Monday, 5 January, to complete the final steps of the move. The deal is described as effectively agreed between the clubs, with only the formal announcement pending.

Reports also suggest the player played an active role in pushing for the switch, with Barcelona understood to be his preferred destination.

Abdelkarim, who has already made his first-team debut for Al Ahly, has featured four times at the senior level, three Premier League appearances, and one in the CAF Champions League. The move would place him in Barcelona’s development pipeline, with an eye on long-term progression beyond the reserve side and, eventually, a pathway to the first team.
