Barcelona is one step away from landing Hamza Abdelkarim after Al Ahly approved a loan agreement with the Catalan club.

According to reports, the final deal is structured as a loan with a €1.5 million purchase option, supplemented by performance-based add-ons that could lift the overall package to €5 million, alongside a 15% sell-on clause tied to any future transfer.

While the broad framework is described as agreed, a small number of final details are still being finalised before the move can be officially announced.

Sources have indicated that the youngster will extend his contract with Al Ahly by one additional year before joining Barcelona. The extension is understood to be a compromise. Al Ahly had initially pushed for a four-year renewal to protect the club’s position should Barcelona decide not to activate the purchase option. However, negotiations ultimately landed on a one-year extension instead.

One further clause reportedly attached to the agreement is a performance trigger. The purchase option would become mandatory if Abdelkarim makes five appearances for Barça Atlètic. That threshold appears realistic given injury issues affecting the reserve side’s attacking unit. The clause could potentially accelerate the conditions for a permanent transfer.

If completed, the move would take Hamza Abdelkarim to the development structure at Barcelona immediately. The reserve team is expected to rely on him for short-term depth while keeping the longer-term pathway open.

Hamza Abdelkarim is reportedly set to record a farewell message for Al Ahly, thanking the club for his development.
