Amadou Onana has named Mohamed Salah as the toughest opponent he’s faced in his career, praising the Egyptian star’s all-around brilliance.
Onana, who joined Villa from Everton last summer in a £50 million move, has come up against some elite players both domestically and in Europe. But when asked by Sky Sports to name the toughest player he’s ever faced, he didn’t hesitate.
“I didn’t play directly against him one-on-one,” Onana admitted. “But we played against Liverpool, and I think Mo Salah is just the main man right now. He’s got it all.”
The Belgian international, known for his towering presence in midfield and physical dominance, has also previously faced Kylian Mbappé during his time with Lille. Yet, it’s Salah that left the biggest impression on the Onana.
Salah has been in sensational form this season, leading the Premier League in both goals and assists. His performances have kept Liverpool at the top of the table and have earned him widespread praise as a frontrunner for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
