Romanian club FC Rapid București have announced the signing of Gabonese forward Aaron Boupendza.
The news comes despite Zamalek announcing the signing of Aaron Boupendza after receiving his international transfer certificate.
The Whites reportedly reached an agreement with Boupendza on a three-year deal after his contract expired with MLS club FC Cincinnati.
However, the player was keen on returning to Europe instead of moving to Egypt, and Romanian side Rapid București insisted that Boupendza didn’t sign with Zamalek.
Upon his arrival in Romania, Boupendza was asked about his deal with Zamalek to which he replied: “I do not want to comment on Zamalek situation.
“I am happy to be here and I am looking forward to do everything to help Rapid București.”
Zamalek look like they have dodged a bullet by not signing Boupendza as Romanian media revealed that the player isn’t fit to play and won’t be ready for any game time before November.
The White Knights have also promised to take all legal actions to protect the club rights after Aaron Boupendza’s actions.
