CAF have decided to suspend Zamalek duo Shikabala and Nasser Mansy as well as fining the club $300,000 following the CAF Super Cup game incidents.
Zamalek beat arch-rivals Al Ahly on penalties, after a 1-1 draw, in the CAF Super Cup earlier this month in Saudi Arabia.
The match was marred by unfortunate incidents, which started when Zamalek skipper Shikabala was seen rallying his teammates to consider forfeiting the game after Al Ahly were awarded a penalty.
Adding to the discord, Zamalek’s Nasser Mansy displayed unsportsmanlike behavior during his penalty celebration, which led to the following decision by CAF.
CAF Disciplinary Board decided:
- To suspend Zamalek SC player Nasser Mansy, for the next three (3) CAF club inter-club competition matches for a provocative gesture in violation of article 147 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
- To fine Nasser Mansy, 10 000 USD.
- To suspend Zamalek player Mahmoud Abdelrazek Shikabala, for the next three (3) CAF inter-club competition matches for unsporting conduct in violation of article 82 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
- To fine player Mr Mahmoud Abdelrazek Fadlala, 10 000 USD.
- To fine Zamalek SC 300, 000 USD for the improper conduct of its team and officials. USD 100 000 of the fine is suspended on condition that Zamalek SC is not found guilty of a similar offense during the 2024/2025 CAF Inter-Club Competition.
