Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi has declined to confirm the club’s reported pursuit of Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush.
De Zerbi addressed the reports on Tuesday during his press conference before Tottenham’s Carabao Cup tie against Charlton Athletic.
“It is not right to speak about other players from other teams,” De Zerbi said when asked about Marmoush. He also described the transfer window as a “crazy market.”
The comments came hours after Tottenham completed the signing of Sávio, formerly known as Savinho, from Manchester City. The Brazilian joined for a reported £75 million. The agreement could rise to £85 million through guaranteed and performance-related add-ons.
Marmoush has been widely expected to follow his former City teammate to North London. However, neither Tottenham nor Manchester City have officially announced an agreement. KingFut previously reported that the clubs had reached a verbal agreement over an initial loan.
The reported deal includes a £50 million purchase obligation, which would become mandatory if certain conditions are met. Marmoush had reportedly agreed personal terms with Spurs and was expected to travel for a medical on Monday.
Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca previously distinguished Marmoush’s situation from Sávio’s. The Brazilian had asked to leave, while the Egypt international had not submitted a similar request.
“Omar is still here, still with us,” Maresca said. “He is different to Sávio, so we will see what happens.” Marmoush remained an unused substitute during City’s 2-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth on Sunday.
The 27-year-old joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025. Marmoush made 36 appearances across all competitions last season. He scored eight goals and provided three assists in 1,393 minutes. His Manchester City contract runs until June 2029.
