Swiss club Servette FC’s winger Dereck Kutesa has reportedly turned down a potential move to Al Ahly during the January transfer window.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that Kutesa had no intention of joining the Egyptian champions this winter despite the club’s interest. Instead, the Swiss-based winger is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season, which factored into his decision to reject Al Ahly’s approach.
Al Ahly’s pursuit of the player has stalled as Kutesa remains firm on his stance. The Angolan-born forward is currently enjoying a remarkable season as he currently tops the Swiss Super League with 12 goals to his name.
The Red Devils have already strengthened their squad this winter with the acquisitions of Slovenian striker Nejc Gradisar, Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki, defender Mostafa El-Ash, and midfielder Ahmed Reda.
Additionally, Al Ahly has secured the return of Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet from Trabzonspor. The Egyptian international, currently on loan at Qatari side Al Rayyan, will officially rejoin his boyhood club in June.
