Italian giants Bologna FC are reportedly interested in signing Al Ahly defender Mohamed Abdelmonem this summer.
After an impressive season that saw Bologna finish fourth in Serie A and secure Champions League qualification for the first time in the club’s history, the Petroniani have already sold a number of key players in their squad.
Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee has already moved to Manchester United in a £36.5m deal while his teammate Riccardo Calafiori is set to join Arsenal according to multiple reports.
The latter’s imminent transfer has reportedly prompted the club to scout potential replacements for the centre-back position and it seems they have identified their target.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Al Ahly’s Abdelmonem has attracted huge interest from Bologna and is one of the names proposed to head coach Vincenzo Italiano.
The 25-year-old has been a standout performer for the Red Devils since his breakthrough with the national team in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, the Egyptian champions could be reluctant to part with their star defender, who has been a central pillar to their success in recent years.
Since cementing his place with the first team, Abdelmonem has made 113 appearances for Al Ahly, scoring eight goals while helping his side win back-to-back CAF Champions League titles.
