EFA

The Egyptian Football Association revealed a set of disciplinary sanctions imposed by the previous board but were left unannounced until now.

The announcement follows the recent EFA elections, where CAF Executive Committee member Hany Abo Rida and his board secured victory unopposed in late November.

The EFA acknowledged that while the former board had issued these sanctions through its disciplinary committee, they failed to disclose them at the time, without providing any explanation for the delay.

The list of sanctions include the following:

  • Zamalek: Former Portuguese head coach Jose Gomes, who resigned earlier this month, received a two-match suspension and an EGP 50,000 fine for his conduct during a league match against Masry on 17 June.
  • Al Ahly vs Pyramids Complaints: Following Ahly’s 1-0 victory over Pyramids FC last season, both clubs lodged complaints against each other, leading to the following sanctions:
  • Al Ahly defender Khaled Abdel-Fattah was handed a three-match suspension for his behavior after the game. However, the complaint against his teammate Emam Ashour was dismissed.
  • Al Ahly board member Mohamed Serag-Eldin was suspended from all football-related activities for three months due to comments made on social media.
  • Pyramids midfielder Mahmoud ‘Dunga’ Abdel Aati was suspended for three matches and fined EGP 100,000 for making accusations against the match referee.
  • Pyramids Defender Karim Hafez received a one-match suspension.
  • Pyramids forward Marwan Hamdy was handed a six-match suspension and fined EGP 100,000 for offensive behavior directed at Ahly fans, which was caught on video.

Despite the late announcement, the EFA disciplinary committee did not specify when these sanctions will officially take effect, leaving the timeline for their implementation unclear.
