Egypt will face Saudi Arabia in a friendly match in Jeddah on March 27, following an agreement to relocate the game from Qatar.

In an official statement, the EFA said Egypt and Saudi Arabia had reached an agreement to move the game to the Saudi city rather than its original host venue, Lusail. The federation also thanked the Qatar Football Association for its earlier role in organizing the football festival and extended wishes for safety across the Arab region.

The fixture had originally been scheduled for 26 March in Qatar at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium as part of the Qatar Football Festival, while Spain’s federation confirmed that Egypt were also due to face Spain in Qatar on 30 March.

The change follows Qatar’s decision to suspend all sports activities. The Qatari Football Association announced the postponement of all tournaments, competitions, and matches under its jurisdiction until further notice as a result of the ongoing war in the region.

The wider March schedule in Qatar has already taken further hits. UEFA has also announced the cancellation of the 2026 Finalissima edition between Spain and Argentina.

The match between Saudi Arabia and Egypt is one of the national teams’ preparations ahead of the FIFA World Cup in the summer. Egypt will head to the World Cup in Group G alongside Belgium, New Zealand, and a possible replacement for the Iranian national team, following its withdrawal from the competition last week.
