Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has announced his squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Ethiopia and Sierra Leone.
The squad surprisingly excludes Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour, who is the current top scorer in the Egyptian Premier League, as well as Ahmed Fatouh, who is reportedly dealing with knee pain that kept him out of Zamalekโs recent match against Smouha in the Egypt Cup quarter-finals.

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El Shenawy, Mohamed Awad, Mostafa Shobeir, Abdelaziz El Baloty
Defenders: Mohamed Hany, Ahmed Eid, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Rami Rabia, Khaled Sobhy, Hossam Abdelmaguid, Ahmed Nabil Kouka

Egypt’s training camp officially begins on Sunday March 16th, with the team set to travel to Morocco the following day. The Pharaohs will hold training sessions on March 19th and 20th before facing Ethiopia on March 21st. After the match, the squad will return to Cairo to prepare for their home fixture against Sierra Leone on the 25th
The Pharaohs currently lead Group A with 10 points, with Guinea-Bissau trailing in second place with six points.
