The Egypt Cup final is set between ZED FC and Pyramids after both sides secured a place in the competition’s final.
ZED FC reached the final after beating Ismaily 1-0 at home, thanks to an early strike from Leonardo Kamone in the 15th minute.
On the other hand, Pyramids fought hard to overcome Al Masry on penalties after a thrilling 1-1 draw on Tuesday evening.
Fagrie Lakay opened the scoring for Pyramids in the 10th minute before former Al Ahly forward Salah Mohsen equalised for Al Masry late in the game, sending the game to extra time and the penalties, where the Cairo-based side prevailed.
This will be the first Egypt Cup final to take place without either Al Ahly or Zamalek since Haras El-Hodood’s triumph in 2009.
This edition will also mark a new winner in the competition’s history where ZED will be competing for their first major trophy since their promotion to the Egyptian Premier League last year.
Meanwhile, Pyramids will be hoping to secure their first domestic prize having failed to win the Egypt Cup on two previous occasions.
The final will be played on Friday, August 30th at the Borg El-Arab Stadium as kick-off takes place at 9 PM CET.
