The Egyptian national team’s coaching staff has decided to exclude Mostafa Mohamed and Omar Marmoush due to injuries before their game against Botswana.
Both players sustained injuries during the national team’s opening game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Cape Verde on Friday.
FilGoal revealed earlier today that the coaching staff decided to exclude the attacking duo ahead of the Botswana game after medical examinations confirmed that they would not be fit to participate.
Marmoush and Mohamed had played a key role in Egypt’s win on Friday as the pair combined to net their second goal against Cape Verde with the former getting on the scoresheet.
Egypt’s squad also did not include Mohamed Abdelmonem, who recently signed with Nice. The coaching staff decided not to call up a replacement for him.
The Pharaohs will be hoping to extend their run of form under Hossan Hassan when they meet Botswana in the second round of qualifiers on Tuesday.
