An Egyptian football fan has been arrested after posting a video on social media in which he threatened Zamalek’s star Ahmed Sayed Zizo.
This comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to investigate the incident, where a video emerged showing an individual threatening Ahmed Sayed Zizo if he leaves the Zamalek to join another team.
The Ministry of Interior issued a statement on Facebook, explaining the incident: “The details of a video circulating on social media featuring a fan threatening a player have been uncovered.”
The statement elaborated: “In the video, a fan threatened a player who represents a team in the Egyptian League, warning against a potential transfer to another club.”
Authorities identified and arrested the fan, who resides in Qalyub. During interrogation, the fan admitted that his intent was to “have fun” and gain attention online, hoping the video would help him “go viral” and generate financial benefits.
The Ministry confirmed that “all legal procedures have been initiated against the fan.”
The video, widely shared by users on social media, shows a person warning Zizo against leaving Zamalek and not renewing his contract with the team, using the phrase: “Zamalek or death.”
Zizo’s contract with Zamalek is set to expire at the end of the current season, making him eligible to sign with any club for free starting in January.
