El-Gouna announced the signing of former Al Ahly midfielder Mohamed Mahmoud, who was a free agent after spending a season with Modern Sport.
The transfer came after Mohamed Mahmoud mutually terminated his contract with Modern Sport, prompting him to sign a three-year contract with El Gouna.
The 26-year-old midfielder previously played for Al Ahly, Wadi Degla and Ittihad Alexandria. He made 22 appearances for Modern Sport last season.
On the international level, Mahmoud is also capped twice by the Egyptian national team, playing in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers against Swaziland and Tunisia,
El-Gouna has also strengthened its squad with loans, such as Favour Akin and Ahmed El Ash, and free transfers, including goalkeeper Amr Shaaban, Bilal El Sayed, and Hassan Yassin. Meanwhile, their winger Ayman Moka moved to Ceramica Cleopatra.
Following the new league format, the top nine teams will compete for the title, and the bottom nine teams will fight to avoid relegation.
El-Gouna finished last season in 12th place with 39 points. The club will hope to secure a spot in the top nine in the first half of the season.
