Emam Ashour extended his contract with Al Ahly until 2030 after rejecting a $4.5 million offer from Turkish side Konyaspor.
The 28-year-old signed a new four-season agreement running from the 2026-27 campaign through 2029-30. Al Ahly announced the extension after Ashour met contracts sector head Essam Serag El-Din. Football director Wael Gomaa also coordinated the administrative and financial procedures.
According to sources, Emam Ashour will receive an annual salary of EGP25 million. The agreement also includes up to EGP10 million in performance-related bonuses each season. The incentives depend on Ashour’s displays and the team’s success in domestic and continental competitions.
Ashour will also receive an EGP5 million signing bonus, according to different reports. His base salary would therefore total EGP100 million across the four seasons.
If he earns every available bonus, the full package could reach EGP145 million before advertising income. Ashour can receive further earnings from advertising campaigns arranged by Al Ahly’s football company. However, no fixed advertising payment is guaranteed, with his income depending on commercial demand.
The renewal follows several weeks of speculation about his future. Al Ahly recently rejected a $4.5 million Konyaspor offer, which the Turkish club proposed paying over three years. Al Ahly informed Konyaspor that Ashour was not for sale this season while leaving the door open to “future cooperation.”
Ashour expressed his gratitude to the club and its supporters after completing the extension. He later wrote on Instagram: “Al Ahly is life to me.”
The midfielder joined Al Ahly from Danish side Midtjylland in July 2023. He has registered 32 goals and 25 assists in 105 appearances for the Cairo club.
Ashour has helped Al Ahly win two Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egyptian Super Cups, the Egypt Cup and the CAF Champions League.
He missed the club’s opening league victory over El Sharkia ENPPI because he was not fully fit after suffering an injury during Egypt’s World Cup last-16 match against Argentina.
