Al Ahly have confirmed that Emam Ashour suffered a broken collarbone against Inter Miami and will miss the remainder of the tournament.

Emam Ashour, who started in the goalless draw against Inter Miami, was forced off in the 12th minute with an injury. The 26-year-old was visibly emotional as he left the pitch and was immediately taken to a Miami hospital, where scans confirmed the fracture.

His early exit made way for Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” to make his official debut for Al Ahly.

Ashour had come close to giving Al Ahly the lead in the 8th minute, only to be denied by Inter Miami keeper Oscar Ustari. The star player’s absence now leaves a gap in midfield ahead of Al Ahly’s crucial second and third group-stage matched against Palmeiras and Porto.
