Former West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has been sacked by Al-Fateh just days before the new Saudi Pro League season kicks off.
Bilic took charge of Al-Fateh at the start of last season just months after his spell with Watford in the EFL Championship.
Despite an impressive campaign that saw them finish seventh just behind Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, Al-Fateh decided to end the Serbian’s time in Saudi Arabia as they begin their search for a new manager.
“Al-Fateh’s board of directors announced the contract termination of first-team head coach, Slaven Bilic, by mutual consent, after an exceptional season in 2023/24 due to disagreements in strategy,” the club said in an official statement.
“Therefore, the club thanks Slaven Bilic for his contributions throughout the past season and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.”
It’s worth noting that Al-Fateh suffered during the second half of last season after letting go of their talisman Firas Al-Buraikan to join Roberto Firmino’s Al-Ahli in January for a fee of £9.8 million.
The Ahsa-based outfit are also yet to make any major signings with less than a month left to the transfer window deadline.
