FC Masar have made history by becoming the first Egyptian team to qualify for the semifinals of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

In their final group stage match, FC Masar defeated Ethiopia’s Commercial Bank FC 2-1. Sandrine Niyonkuru opened the scoring in the first half, and Yasmine Mohamed doubled the lead in the 85th minute. Commercial Bank managed a late consolation goal through Senaf Wakuma in stoppage time, but it wasn’t enough to deny FC Masar the win.

Sandrine Niyonkuru’s second goal of the tournament and outstanding performance earned her the Woman of the Match award. She scored the only goal in the opener against Mamelodi Sundowns highlighting her key role in the team’s historic success.

This victory makes Masar the most successful Egyptian team in the tournament’s history, with two wins and a semifinal qualification, surpassing Wadi Degla’s record of one win across two editions.

In Group B, both Edo Queens and FC Masar finished with seven points, but the Nigerian side claimed first place on goal difference.

FC Masar will face Moroccan giants AS FAR on November 19 and Edo Queens will take on DR Congo’s TP Mazembe in Casablanca later that day.

The third-place playoff is scheduled for November 22, while the final will take place on November 23.

FC Masar’s historic run marks a significant milestone for Egyptian women’s football on the continental stage.
