Former Zamalek forward Jamal Mutyaba set to join Bordeaux

Jamal Mutyaba is reportedly close to joining French club Girondins de Bordeaux after leaving Cairo giants Zamalek as a free agent earlier this summer.

According to French radio channel Bleu Giron, Mutyaba is currently in France to finalize his move to Bordeaux, where he will sign his contract as a free agent.

The Ugandan forward spent one season on loan at Zamalek, joining the Egyptian club in January 2024. During his time at Zamalek, Mutyaba made 11 appearances and helped the team clinch the CAF Confederation Cup last season.

Mutyaba also represents the Uganda national team, having earned 11 caps and scoring one goal against Algeria.

Bordeaux, now playing in the French fourth division after entering administration, is looking to rebuild. They currently sit 15th in their group and have already signed English striker Andy Carroll as a free agent to bolster their attack.
