Ghazl El-Mahalla coach Ahmed Eid Resigns After Heavy Zamalek Defeat

Ghazl El-Mahalla manager, Ahmed Eid Abdelmalek, has announced his resignation following a heavy 4-0 defeat to Zamalek.

In a post on his official Facebook account, Abdelmalek expressed his gratitude to the club’s supporters, writing: “I would like to thank the fans of Ghazl El-Mahalla for their unwavering support throughout the past year. A special thanks to Walid Khalil for his continuous backing of both the team and myself.”

The former Egyptian National Team player continued, “I wish the best of luck to the players, the board, and the entire team in their future endeavors. We did our best to build a competitive squad since our promotion to the Premier League, but unfortunately, luck was not on our side. Ghazl El Mahalla belongs in the Premier League.”

Abdelmalek concluded: “I hereby resign from my position as manager of Ghazl El Mahalla, and I will remain its biggest supporter. I wish the club every success going forward.”

Ghazl El-Mahalla’s resignation marks the second managerial departure in the Egyptian Premier League this season, following the dismissal of Enppi’s manager.

The club currently sits in 13th place in the league, with four points from four matches. Their next fixture will be against ZED FC on 12 December 2024 at 8:00 PM CET.
