Egypt added three new players for friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Spain, with Salah injured and Abdelmonem back.
Egypt coach Hossam Hassan has named his squad for the friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Spain, with Mohamed Salah ruled out through injury and Haissem Hassan included for the first time. Mohamed Abdelmonem also returns after recovering from the ACL injury that kept him out since last year.
Egypt will play Saudi Arabia in Jeddah on 27 March, then face Spain in Barcelona on 31 March. Spain’s federation has confirmed the second match will take place at RCDE Stadium in Cornellà-El Prat.
Salah misses the camp after suffering a muscle injury during Liverpool’s Champions League match against Galatasaray last week. Liverpool manager Arne Slot said the forward would miss both the Brighton match and Egypt’s game against Spain.
Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan is one of three new names in the squad. El Gouna goalkeeper Mohamed Alaa and ZED defender Tarek Alaa also join the group. Abdelmonem returns after resuming match action with Nice last month.
Eight players who featured in Egypt’s AFCON squad are absent this time. They are Mohamed Sobhy, Ahmed El Shenawy, Mohamed Hamdy, Ahmed Eid, Mohamed Shehata, Mostafa Fathi, Salah Mohsen, and Osama Faisal. Nasser Mansi and Islam Issa return to the senior setup.
