UAE Pro League side Al-Nasr has reached an agreement for Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech to join the club on a free transfer.
The agreement was finalized after a series of negotiations involving Ziyech, Galatasaray, and Al-Nasr. The UAE club was reportedly facing competition from French club, Lille among other teams.
Talks began last week following fellow Moroccan Adel Taarabt’s departure, and Al-Nasr’s Dutch coach Alfred Schreuder is said to have played a pivotal role in securing the deal. Schreuder had previously managed Hakim Ziyech at FC Twente between 2014 and 2015.
Ziyech’s decision to leave Galatasaray stemmed from ongoing disputes with the club’s management and coaching staff. The 30-year-old Moroccan joined Galatasaray on loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, with the move becoming permanent in mid-2024.
However, his time in Turkey was spoiled by injuries, limiting him to just 11 appearances this season across all competitions, including just five Turkish Super league matches and three Europa League games, contributing only one assist without finding the back of the net.
The player is expected to arrive in Dubai in the coming hours to undergo medical examinations and finalize the contract signing ahead of the official announcement of the deal.
