Mexican side Club Tijuana is reportedly set to pursue the signing of Zamalek defender Hossam Abdelmaguid during the January transfer window.
Sources close to both clubs have recently revealed that a possible move for the defender is driven by Xolos head coach Juan Carlos Osorio, who previously managed Zamalek and is well-acquainted with Abdelmaguid’s abilities.
Tijuana reportedly proposed a permanent transfer deal worth $900,000, which Zamalek rejected. A revised offer followed, suggesting a loan deal valued at $500,000 with an option to buy. The White Knights are said to be currently reviewing the latter proposal but is leaning towards rejecting it while considering an improved and extended contract for Hossam Abdelmaguid.
The 23-year-old defender has played 99 matches for Zamalek, scoring eight goals and showcasing his ability to play in both central defense and defensive midfield roles. His market value is estimated at close to $365,000, according to Transfermarkt.
Zamalek are said to remain firm in their stance, emphasizing that they will only part ways with the defender if an offer meets their valuation.
Meanwhile, the team continues preparations for their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup clash against Al Masry on January 5 at Borg El Arab Stadium. The coming weeks are expected to provide clarity on Abdelmaguid’s future as Club Tijuana continues its pursuit of the player.
