Egyptian national team director Ibrahim Hassan has spoken about Mohamed Salah reaching 100 caps for his country.

The Pharaohs defeated Botswana 4-0 in the second game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers to reach six points from their first two group games after beating Cape Verde 3-0 last week.

They play Mauritania in back-to-back games next month hoping to seal their qualification for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Salah celebrated his 100th appearance for Egypt on Tuesday by netting his side’s second goal and his 57th strike for the record African champions.

Speaking to ON Time Sports, Ibrahim Hassan said: “I congratulate Mohamed Salah on reaching 100 games and I am glad it happened with such a big win for us.

“He is an incredible player and crucial for the national team, I hope he reaches 200 caps,” he added.

It’s worth noting ex-Anderlecht and Al Ahly midfielder Ahmed Hassan currently holds the record for most national team appearances (184) followed by current head coach Hossam Hassan (176) and legendary goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary (159).
