Ismaily face transfer ban until the end of 2024/25 season

Ismaily SC has received notification from FIFA that their request to halt the implementation of their transfer ban has been rejected.

Ismaily SC received an official notification from FIFA confirming the rejection of their appeal to lift the ongoing transfer ban. The decision means that Ismaily will not be able to register any new players until the end of the 2024/2025 season, covering both the current summer and upcoming winter transfer windows.

This ban, which stems from unresolved financial and contractual disputes, was enforced despite Ismaily’s recent efforts to resolve outstanding issues, particularly in the case of Tunisian player Firas Chaouat. FIFA made it clear that the ban is a disciplinary action and is not tied to the payment of fines or settlements with players.

Ismaily had previously submitted a request to delay the enforcement of the ban, hoping for a favorable outcome before the case reached the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). However, the rejection leaves the club in a challenging position as they cannot bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.

While Ismaily managed to resolve a similar ban in January, allowing them to register players at that time, the current ruling is more rigid and will remain in effect.

Ismaily’s troubles are compounded by internal challenges, as they continue to face struggles on the pitch and within the club’s management. The team finished 14th in the league last season, with 33 points, and now face an uphill battle to improve their standing under these restrictions.
