Ivan Toney becomes first English player to score in Saudi Pro League

Al Ahli striker Ivan Toney made history by scoring the first-ever goal by an English player in the Saudi Roshn League.

Ivan Toney netted his goal during Al-Ahli’s win over Damac in the 46th minute of their clash on Friday.

This was Toney’s first goal for Al-Ahli, coming in his third appearance for the club, which he joined towards the end of the summer transfer window.

Toney went on to score a second, 16 minutes into the added time, for Al-Ahli to win 4-2, with Gabri Veiga and Roberto Firmino also scoring for the Saudi giants.

In addition to Toney, only three other English players have featured in the Saudi Pro League. Chris Smalling, a new addition to Al-Fayha, along with former players Jordan Henderson (previously of Al-Ettifaq) and Mo Adams, who played for Al-Shabab and Al-Khaleej, have also competed.

Henderson appeared in 17 matches, Adams in six, Smalling in one, and Toney in two before his historic goal. Out of all four English players, Toney is the only one who has found the back of the net.
