Italian midfielder Jorginho, now at Flamengo, has expressed both surprise at and support for Salah amid the recent situation at Liverpool.

Flamengo midfielder Jorginho became the latest voice in world football to comment on the latest debacle surrounding Mohamed Salah, albeit slightly later than most. The Brazil-born player voiced his hope that the Egyptian star will bounce back stronger in the coming period.

Salah was benched for three consecutive Premier League matches before making headlines with post-match comments that sharply criticised Liverpool manager Arne Slot and the club’s leadership. As a result, he was left out of the squad for Liverpool’s Champions League win over Inter Milan.

On Saturday, Salah returned to action in the Reds’ 2-0 win over Brighton. Coming off the bench in the first half, he provided an assist for Hugo Ekitike’s second-half goal, helping to seal the victory at Anfield.

Speaking during the late hours of Saturday, Jorginho gave his take on the situation in a post-match interview.

Mohamed Salah is a great player and a kind person. I was surprised when I saw what he’s going through, but I believe he’ll come back stronger. He has the right mentality to do that, and I really hope he does.
