Al Ahly forward Mahmoud Abdelmoneim ‘Kahraba’ has resolved the legal dispute with Zamalek over a bounced cheque, settling the final installment of a fine he owed the club.

Zamalek had recently filed a police report against Kahraba after attempting to cash a six million EGP cheque, only to discover it had bounced.

This amount represented the last payment of a $2 million fine imposed on Kahraba after he unilaterally left Zamalek to join Portuguese side Deportivo Aves in 2019, despite being under contract with Zamalek until 2023.

On Wednesday, Kahraba’s agent visited Zamalek’s offices and provided proof of the six million EGP bank transfer, which cleared the outstanding balance. In exchange, Zamalek returned the original cheque to the agent, and the club is now expected to withdraw the police report filed against the player.

This payment marks the full settlement of the fine, which had originally led to Kahraba’s suspension until it was paid in full.

Kahraba, who represented Zamalek from 2015 to 2019—including two seasons on loan at Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad—left the club controversially to join Deportivo Aves in Portugal. His departure deemed a breach of contract by Zamalek, resulted in a hefty fine of $2 million, which has been paid off in installments over the years.

The Egypt international spent only six months in Portugal before transferring to Al Ahly in January 2020. Since then, Kahraba has been a key player for Al Ahly, contributing to their domestic and continental successes.
