Karim Fouad: Pitso Mosimane wronged me

Al Ahly player Karim Fouad opened up about his time under former manager Pitso Mosimane and his recovery from an ACL injury in an interview with the club’s official website.

Fouad, who had been covering the left-back position after Ali Maaloul’s Achilles injury, suffered his second ACL tear during a match against Smouha.

This marks the second time in two seasons that the young player has faced the same injury.

Fouad expressed his frustration with Mosimane, stating: “Mosimane wronged me, and I believe I deserved a chance. Koller, on the other hand, has helped me a lot.”

Reflecting on his injury, he said: “I felt my ACL tear on the pitch, and the mental pain was far worse than the physical. In the end, it’s God’s will, and I am grateful for that.

“Mohamed Aboutrika spoke to me after the injury, and I told him this was just the first step towards recovery”

Fouad also fondly recalled his goal against Zamalek in the Egypt Super Cup final, saying: “That goal was the first of my career, and I consider it the best. Akram Tawfik even predicted I would score, and thankfully, I did.”

Addressing a debated moment in the CAF Champions League, Fouad added, “I was surprised by the discussion around my challenge against Esperance de Tunis. I was certain it wasn’t a penalty.”
