Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller has insisted he is looking to win more trophies with the Reds after clinching the Egypt Cup.
A thrilling Cairo derby ultimately ended in Al Ahly’s favour as the Red Devils earned a 2-0 victory, thanks to late goals from Emam Ashour and Mohamed Magdy Afsha.
The Cup was Al Ahly’s 39th in their history and the seventh under Swiss coach Marcel Koller who won five trophies last season, before adding to the Egypt Super Cup he lifted earlier this year.
Speaking after the game, Koller said: “Zamalek played a great game in the first half and exploited the lack of convergence in our lines, but in the second half we were the better side and deserved the win.”
Regarding Mahmoud Kahraba, he said, “Confidence is very important with the players. We always need a personality like Kahraba in matches.
“The opponent’s defender thinks he has Kahraba in his pocket, and suddenly he does something unexpected, changing the result.
He further explained: “Achieving many titles? I won’t boast; I’ll remain as I am, always thirsty for winning titles.
“I know that achieving seven titles since my arrival at Ahly is wonderful, but I’ll always remain the same.”
