Barcelona have reportedly added Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush to the list of potential summer targets.
According to recent reports, Barcelona are looking for forwards for next season and have discussed Marmoush as a possible option.
Barcelona’s interest comes as the club weighs long-term solutions in attack, with SPORT described as pointing to a thin market and rising prices. (Sport Witness) Barca-focused outlet Barca Blaugranes also framed Marmoush as an “alternative” profile in the same summer conversation. (Barca Blaugranes)
While the primary target for the Catalan club remains Julian Álvarez, Atlético Madrid could complicate a deal and refuse to sell easily. Barcelona have therefore kept other names ready.
Due to his ability to play across the front line and press aggressively, Marmoush fits the profile the club is looking for. Additionally, Hansi Flick’s staff are said to rate the Egyptian’s traits highly.
However, Omar Marmoush still has three-and-a-half years left on his current contract, which would strengthen City’s negotiating position if negotiations were to take place.
For now, no club has confirmed talks, and the reporting sits firmly in the “reported interest and monitoring” category. Any deal would likely hinge on Barcelona’s budget, City’s willingness to negotiate, and where Marmoush fits in Pep Guardiola’s plans next season.
If Barcelona move forward, Marmoush would follow teenager Hamza Abdelkarim into the club’s structure after Barcelona signed Abdelkarim on loan from Al Ahly with an option to buy.
