Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has opened up about his challenges when he first moved to Germany, admitting it took time to adapt.
Speaking in an interview with the Bundesliga’s official website, Marmoush shared, “It wasn’t an easy step to leave my friends and family behind and move to Germany. I didn’t know the language, the food, or much about the culture.”
He added, “I played one season with Wolfsburg and only featured in three games. I spent time with the Under-23 team, but I kept working with enthusiasm to achieve my goals.”
Marmoush also spoke about his connection to Canada, saying, “My parents worked in Canada for six years, which is how they obtained Canadian citizenship. I’ve visited Ottawa four times, but I’ve always lived in Egypt. I am 100% Egyptian.”
Omar Marmoush has been dominating the Bundesliga so far this season, where he is joint top scorer with 11 goals, sharing the spot with Harry Kane. He also stands out as one of the few players this season, alongside fellow Egyptian Mohamed Salah, to have reached double digits in both goals and assists.
