Ahmed Hossam Mido revealed that he advised Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy not to repeat the Mohamed Salah mistake with Omar Marmoush.
Marmoush has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that Liverpool are eyeing a move for him back in April.
Nottingham Forest had also expressed interest in Marmoush during the summer, but the deal ultimately did not go through, and the forward remained at Eintracht Frankfurt.
German journalist Christian Falk stated that Marmoush dreams of joining Liverpool or Arsenal. He also added that West Ham are interested in the Egyptian winger; though he is not expected to be available for sale until the next summer transfer window.
While Tottenham seem to be out of the picture, ex-Spurs striker Mido revealed that he personally contacted the club’s chairman Daniel Levy a year ago to have a look on his compatriot.
This comes after Levy had also turned down the chance to monitor Mohamed Salah before moving to Chelsea as per another recommendation from Mido.
“Years ago, I sent a message to Daniel Levy urging him to sign Salah. I told him Salah would become one of the best players in the world,” Mido said.
“Levy said he’d keep an eye on him, but I believe he now regrets not signing him. I even brought one of the top agents to watch Salah when he was playing for Arab Contractors, but the agent wasn’t convinced. Sometimes, even the best experts can be deceived by what they see.
“A year ago, I messaged Levy again, this time recommending he follow Omar Marmoush. I don’t think Tottenham will make a move for him, but it’s a big club, and I’m proud to have played for them.
“There could be some things in football that only you see them. Marmoush is an example of a player who made a name for himself through hard work.”
It’s worth noting that Marmoush was given his breakthrough in Egypt under Mido during their time together at Wadi Degla, before departing for Wolfsburg in 2017.
