Mostafa Mohamed is in Turkey to complete a move away from Nantes, with Konyaspor currently the leading candidate to sign the striker.
Sources close to the player have said that the forward had travelled to Turkey to finalise a transfer to a Süper Lig club. Konyaspor are to have submitted a lucrative offer and remain the most likely destination.
The forward has no intention of returning to Nantes at present, and he and his agent are trying to agree a financial settlement that would end his contract with the French club.
That remains a potential obstacle. Nantes want a transfer fee and do not intend to release Mohamed for free, according to French reports.
The same reports said Nantes had not received a concrete offer despite Mohamed’s contacts with Turkish clubs. His contract runs until June 2027.
As KingFut previously reported, Mostafa Mohamed remained outside Nantes’ first-team group while attracting interest from Turkey.
The 28-year-old has trained away from the senior squad since returning to the club in July. He also missed Nantes’ opening three Ligue 2 matches against Red Star, Laval and Rodez. His dispute with Nantes began when he failed to report for pre-season training on June 24. The club fined him for each day of his absence and planned further sanctions after struggling to contact him.
The former Zamalek player eventually returned on July 22 after almost a month away. He completed an individual session before joining the reserve team, according to L’Équipe. Mostafa Mohamed wants to continue playing in a top division following Nantes’ relegation from Ligue 1, and his contract also includes a wage reduction following the drop.
He scored four goals in 24 league appearances last season. His form contributed to his omission from Egypt’s squad for the World Cup.
Mohamed joined Nantes on loan from Galatasaray in 2022 before completing a permanent transfer in 2023. A move to Konyaspor would take him back to a league where he scored 15 goals during his time with Galatasaray.
