Former Liverpool and Guinea midfielder Naby Keita revealed that Al Ahly is his favorite African team during the CAF Champions League draw.
Keita expressed his happiness in helping conduct the draw and shared his hopes for the continued development of African football in the upcoming season.
When asked about the competition, Keita pointed out Group B as the toughest, featuring South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroccan clubs Raja Casablanca and FAR Rabat, and Congolese side Maniema Union.
Keita also praised the abundance of talent in African football, saying, “I hope this talent shines and makes a difference.”
Although he admitted to not knowing the current players at Al Ahly, Keita stated that he regularly follows the team’s results and wishes them success.
Reigning African champions Al Ahly have been drawn into Group C, where they will face Algerian club CR Belouizdad, South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, and Ivorian team Stade d’Abidjan.
