French reports have revealed the date Mohamed Abdelmonem will join Nice’s training sessions ahead of the imminent deal announcement.
It was revealed earlier last week that OGC Nice have all agreements in place to sign Al Ahly and Egypt defender Mohamed Abdelmonem.
The deal will cost Nice €4 million plus an additional €1 million in bonuses after both teams found a middle ground on payment terms. The fee will be paid in two installments, with a 10% future sell-on fee to be added as well.
Abdelmonem has also agreed terms to sign a four-year contract with Nice that will run until June 2028 and is expected to France in the next few days after his visa process is finalized.
According to L’Equipe’s journalist Loïc Tanzi, Mohamed Abdelmonem will join his first Nice training sessions next Wednesday or Thursday ‘If all goes well’.
Mohamed Abdelmonem is expected to replace Jean Clair Todibo, who departed just a few days ago to West Ham on loan with an obligation to buy.
Nice finished last season fifth in Ligue 1 and secured Europa League football for this season; however, they had a slow start to the new campaign with a 2-1 late defeat to newly promoted Auxerre.
If indeed Abdelmonem arrives in Nice this week, it would mean that the Egyptian will be available for Nice’s upcoming game against Toulouse on Sunday as they search for their first win of the season.
In Nice, Abdelmonem is expected to partner Brazilian veteran defender Dante and youngster Antoine Mendy as French manager Franck Haise opts for a three-man backline.
